Langpangkong students’ conference begins

The 31st “triennial” conference and sports meet of the Langpangkong students’ (LKM) has begun on January 12 and would culminate on the 15th. The event is being hosted by Merangkong village got underway at Tuli under Mokokchung district. Parliamentary Secretary for Industries and Commerce, Amenba Yaden attended the inaugural session of the program.
Minister of State for Youth Affairs & Sports Sarbananda Sonowal attended the second day of the programme on Wednesday, January 13.
The chief guest of the event, Sarbananda Sonowal, said in his speech that in India youths in the age group of 15-29 years constitute 27.5% of the population which represents the most dynamic segment of the population and are the future of the nation. Therefore the challenge before the nation is to develop and empower its huge youth population as productive work face, he said.
During the occasion, the minister also urged the people to utilize the opportunity of new schemes which were launched in the name of National Young Leaders Programme (NYLP), which is a central sector scheme and ‘has been tuned with the promise made to the people.’
The program includes Neighborhood Youth Parliament (NYP), Youth for Development Programme (YFDP), National Young Leaders Awards (NYLA), National Youth Advisory Council (NYAC), National Youth Development Fund (NYDF).
The minister said that youth of the north eastern region have great responsibility in nation building. He added that flagship schemes initiated by the Prime Minister such as digital India, skill India and the make in India will be the greatest term around in the history of our nation.
On his arrival the people of Tuli sub-division accorded a warm welcome where number of high officials and the public where present. Earlier the Chief Guest unfurled the LKM flag. The program was presided over by former president of the NSF, Tongpang Ozukum.
Among others, the deputy commissioner of Mokokchung, Sushil Kumar Patel, and Superintendent of Police of Mokokchung, Aotemsu, also attended the program.
