Kohima instates new rules for parking, off areas in capital

The Kohima district administration has issued a number
Sub-divisional officer (Sadar) of Kohima, Kethosituo Sekhose, informed that the regulations were ‘in pursuance’ of the provisions given under sec 117 and sec 127 of the Motor Vehicles Act 1988 and section 34 of the Indian Police Act 1881, the Regional Transport Authority (RTA).
The regulations that have been ordered to be observed in parking and no-parking
areas and one-way in are in the
following:
1. Vehicles shall be allowed to be parked only on one side, i.e. on the valley side of the, road in the following locations/routes:
a) Census Directorate junction via Hotel Legacy towards the exit near High School junction: vehicles are allowed parking only on the right side of the road wherever permitted.
b) NSF Martyrs park junction via Bethel Hospital to PHQ junction: vehicles are allowed parking only on the left side of the road wherever permitted.
c) Mhonkhola-AG junction towards BSNL office via SDO PHE Office: vehicles are allowed parking only on the right side of the road wherever permitted.
d) AIR to old/new Minister Hill road: vehicles are allowed to be parked only on the left side of the road wherever permitted.
2. Vehicles shall be allowed to be parked only on one side, i.e., on the hill side of the, road in the following locations/routes:
a) Upper Paramedical Colony junction towards Lady’s Mile Road via Mizo Church below Red Cross building: vehicles are allowed parking only on the left side of the road wherever permitted.
b) New Market via Pentecostal Church towards NST junction: vehicles are allowed parking only on the left side of the Road wherever allowed.
3. No-parking shall be applied on both side of the road on the following routes between 08:00 AM TO 05:00 PM on all Government working days.
a) Fira Hotel junction to Paramedical Colony exiting at National Highway-29:
4. Vehicles shall not be allowed to proceed towards NSF Martyrs Park from PHQ junction via Bethel Hospital. No entry rules to be applied.
‘These rules are hereby brought into force with immediate effect and any vehicle found violating these rules shall be towed away by the traffic police and the cost of which including penalties thereof shall be borne by the owner of the concerned vehicle,’ the notification stated.
Citizens are informed that “as and when checking” will be carried out and ‘defaulters will be penalized as per law and the ignorance or non-information of the same shall not be taken as an excuse.’
