Kuki community of NE region to celebrate ‘Chavang Kut’ festival

DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 2: The Chavang Kut 2016 (Celebration of Brotherhood) with the theme “Bigger, Better, Stronger” will be celebrated at Peace ground, Tuibuong, Churachandpur, Manipur for three days from October 30.
A press note issued by department of Media & Publicity, Chavang Kut Committee 2016 said, the celebration committee headed by Dr.Chinkholal Thangsing as its chairman, George Guite as secretary and Samuel Haokip as treasurer supported by 70 strong members of the Sub-Committee is working to make this year’s celebration a much bigger, better event that will further strengthen the bonds of a brotherhood of the Kuki-Manasseh groups in South East Asia.
The three days of thanksgiving celebration will see the sea gathering of the Kuki tribes in India and kindred Kuki-Manasseh brethren from beyond the borders of Manipur, the Northeastern States such as Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura, Mizoram, Nagaland and from other parts of India, Myanmar and Bangladesh.
