Kohima, April 23 (EMN): Minister of Planning and Coordination, Land Revenue and Parliamentary Affairs, Neiba Kronu, has challenged the youth to work hard and not stay idle, saying that the youth should have the zeal to work and face the various challenges ahead.
He stated this at the five-day long Tsükhenyie-cum-73rd youth day of Pfutseromi Youth Organisation (PYO), which got underway in Pfutseromi village under Phek district on Saturday as the guest speaker. He also urged the villagers to keep the village clean and beautify the surroundings as the village is one of the important tourist destinations in the state.
The minister stated that the hospitality of the villagers would reflect the people and convey a positive impression to attract more tourists’ attention. Kronu further encouraged the people to take up plantations of fruit trees on a large scale for commercial purposes to boost the rural economy.
Also speaking on the occasion, PYO president, Kope Mero, has accredited the farsighted vision of the past leaders and elders for the youth and the future generations for what the PYO is today.
“Youth is the period we are not only physically and mentally at the fittest but also we are the strength and pride of the village,” he said.
Earlier greetings was shared by Pfutseromi village council chairman, Lhiwepelo Ritse, while the programme was chaired by PYO advisor, Zekozo Mero, and the vote of thanks was proposed by PYO vice president, Dietsho Ritse.
It may be mentioned that the Tsükhenyie festival was celebrated at a time when new leaves adorned the trees, plants and vegetables sprouted from the soil, and the sons and daughters of the soil got ready for a new season of plantation.
The programme would culminate on April 27.
