Konyak Union seeks clarification on illegal taxation allegation
Dimapur, Sep. 4 (EMN): Konyak Union (KU) has denied of what it termed as ‘baseless allegation’ through a written complaint submitted to the deputy commissioner, Charaideo, Assam, by some vested interest persons, accusing the KU and Tizit Area Students’ Union (Tasu) of involving in illegal taxation.
An update from KU media cell stated that the same was telecast by one of the electronic media, which prompted to call for unnecessary bandh and interrupted normalcy in the border area.
KU expressed surprise over the report despite the fact that the Konyak community has been actively supporting the government in implementing the SOP against the Covid-19 pandemic with its own resources, energy and time for the safety of its people. It warned that such kind of unfounded report to vilify the image of Mon district in general would not be tolerated at any cost.
To clear doubt in the minds of the common people, KU has sought a clarification and public apology from those erring persons for defaming KU and TASU in the media. KU further warned that it would have no option but to file a defamation case if it fails to clarify the alleged news report.
