KOHIMA — The silver jubilee celebration of Khongjiri Students’ Union (KSU)-cum-58th federal assembly of Yimkhiung Akherü Arihako (YAA) was held in Khongjiri village under Kiphire district on January 10 and 11.
The KSU silver jubilee celebration was held on the theme “Resilience and radiance” on January 10 with MLA and advisor of Fire and Emergency Services, Home Guards, Civil Defence, Relief and Rehabilitation, S Kiusumew, as the special guest.
An update from the union stated that the special guest has stressed on the importance of unity and education in order to propel the society to be at par with the rest of the world.
Meanwhile, the guest of honour, Yithachu Thurr, extra assistant commissioner (EAC) of Khongsa, underscored the importance acquiring skill development to be self-reliant.
On the occasion, short speeches were delivered by Ningjimong, founding president of KSU; YAA president, Keyoungkhum; and Makhezho, YTC executive chairman.
Ningsangwu Bomrr, president of Khongjiri Students’ Union, delivered the presidential address, while the welcome address was delivered by Azho Paul, chairman of silver jubilee planning committee, and Khamkiumong L John, KSU vice president, delivered the vote of thanks.
Other highlights of the event included presentations by Apentsu Merr, Moya Village Students’ Union and Pungro Town Students’ Union.
Later in the afternoon, a seminar on skill development for the students was held on the theme “Skill development and employment worldwide.”
To commemorate the occasion, a souvenir was also released by the guest of honour, while the monolith was unveiled by the special guest.
The 58th federal assembly of the Yimkhiung Akherü Arihako (YAA) was also held in Khongjiri village on January 11.
