Khaotsaosei Hok-Ah festival celebrated in Chai Pokam

Benei M Lamthiu along with other dignitaries during the celebration of Khaotsaosei Hok-Ah festival organised by Kingjung Chai Kao clan in Chai Pokam on Tuesday.

DIMAPUR — The Kingjung Chai Kao clan celebrated Khaotsaosei Hok-Ah festival in Chai Pokam under Thonoknyu sub-division of Noklak district on Tuesday with MLA Benei M Lamthiu as the chief guest.

Speaking on the occasion, Lamthiu conveyed Khaotsaosei Hok-Ah greetings to the people and also appreciated the SDO of Thonoknyu, Tsatsutsie; Major Johan of the 12th Assam Rifles at Choklangan; village guard of Jamatar Wui village Tsuthong; officials and others for attending the celebration, stated a DIPR report.

He stated that the festival was mainly about merry making and also to showcase the rich cultural traditions and inheritance. He called upon the guests to take back fond memories and spread the message that the Nagas are peace-loving people.

He expressed hope that the festival would further improve friendship and unity among the villages. He further urged the citizens of Kingjung village to be more responsible in building the society by maintaining good relationship with all communities.

Significance of the festival was delivered by Pukhong, while a song was presented by M Pukei. Short speeches were delivered by M Thangou, public leader, as well as by Shep Kao convenor, Lam Kao convenor and Chai Kao convenor.

The welcome address was delivered by S Lusang, while the vote of thanks was presented by Head GB and acting chairman, Kaisang.

The programme was chaired by Pungom. Cultural song and dance was presented by Lam Kao and Shep Kao.
