Dimapur, May 1 (EMN): Lone Rajya Sabha MP from Nagaland KG Kenye, while lauding the efforts of the Food Corporation of India (FCI) and Food and Civil Supplies (F&CS) for judiciously managing with the allocation of the state’s quota, urged them to properly disinfect the consignment before being ferried to other parts of the state.
Kenye, who is also a member of the Parliamentary National Standing Committee on Food, Consumer Affairs, Public Distribution, stated this during a meeting with the officials from FCI and F&CS.
The MP has also appreciated the frontliners in the entire state, who are sacrificing and risking their life to combat the dreaded virus despite criticism from certain corners. He urged them not to be discouraged as criticism and allegation are part of life, an update from the PRO to MP stated on Wednesday.
Maintaining that Dimapur city is the entry point of the state, Kenye has appreciated the extra efforts being taken by the Dimapur district administration, other officers and all the stakeholders. He appealed to them to be more vigil in dealing with the situation.
Kenye further suggested that more consultative meeting should be held as the prevailing situation require better coordination from all walks of life. He also expressed his concern for people who do not have ration card.
Director of F&CS presented the total allocation received for the state under various schemes and the quantity being distributed to each district. With sufficient available, the director also requested the general public not to panic.
Chief Manager of Indian Oil Corporation Ltd, pointed out that the state has lesser depot capacity for petrol, diesel, SK oil and LPG compared to other NE states and requested the government to take up the matter with the ministry for enhancement of the capacity.
ADC Dimapur, DMC administrator, president and general secretary of Nagaland Medicine Dealers’ Association (NMDA) have also highlighted their activities in managing and distributing essential commodities covering the entire district.
Later, the MP inspected the FCI food storage depot.
Advisor of F&CS Pukhayi along with the Commissioner and Secretary attended the meeting.
