Kenguruse Memorial Football Tournament: Burma Camp, Pro FC, Longpa Lomuden, Phusachoudu in quarters

Kohima, Nov. 17 (EMN): Burma Camp FC, Pro FC, Longpa Lomuden FC and Phusachoudu FC went through to the quarter-final round at the ongoing 6th Capt. Kenguruse Football Memorial Tournament on Thursday at IG Stadium in Kohima. 

 Playing the first match of the day, Burma Camp FC edged past Head Hunters FC 4 – 1 while in the second match, Pro FC defeated Sukerdzumi FC with a margin of 5 – 3 to qualify for the next round.

Longpa Lomuden FC won the third match over Naga Brothers FC by a comprehensive margin of 9-0 while Phusachoudu FC beat New Market FC 3 – 2.

Eneibe Thopi of Longpa Lumuden FC is the leading goal scorer of the tournament so far with four goals to his credit. He scored the haul against Naga Brothers FC during their match.

Athana Newmai from Barak FC is trailing behind with three goals for the golden boot race. 

The champions of the edition will fetch a cash prize of INR 2,00,000 while runners-up will receive INR 1,00,000. 

The third and fourth place winners will receive INR 50,000 and INR 25,000 respectively at the ongoing tournament being organised by IGAR North Assam Rifles.

Correction: The third match played on November 16 went in favour of Lengreng FC against Naga United FC by a margin of 3-0 and not as rendered. 

Fixture for quarter-final matches on Friday (November 18): 

  • Tehok FC vs Burma Camp FC at 11 am
  • Barak FC vs Pro Aim Sports Club at 1:30 pm
