INR 587 crore sanctioned for projects in Northeast

Dimapur, Feb. 5 (EMN): The Ministry of Development of North-East Region (DoNER) has sanctioned a total of INR 587.17 crore for various projects in the Northeast region. The sanctioned amount is against a total package of INR 586.20 crore for the region under the social and infrastructure development fund (SIDF).

The Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) DoNER, Dr. Jitendra Singh, revealed this in a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday, and the same has been made public by PIB.

According to DoNER, INR 504.10 crore has already been released against the total amount sanctioned for the Northeast region and the balance amount will be released on receipt of physical and financial reports from the concerned state governments.

It informed that four projects amounting to INR 68.09 crore have been approved for Nagaland under the SIDF since its inception on December 31, 2019, and that INR 66.96 crore has already been released to the state till date.

According to information provided on the Ministry of DoNER dashboard, the four projects taken up in Nagaland were: capital work in the eastern part of Nagaland (INR 31.48 cr. released against INR 31.95 cr. approved); construction of 28 suspension bridges (INR 4.88 cr. released against INR 4.97 cr. approved); construction of four roads and bridges (INR 27.40 cr. released against INR 27.95 cr. approved); and construction of link road from Wokha-Bokajan road to Ralan Old, and New Changalashung Old and New, covering rubber plantation area in western Nagaland (INR 3.21 cr. released for 11 km-project).
