DIMAPUR — The National Productivity Council, DPIIT, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, and ICAR–National Research Centre on Mithun, GoI, will jointly organise the North East Sustainability Conclave on Productivity and Green Growth at ICAR-National Research Centre on Mithun, Medziphema, on April 13.
An update from ICAR-NRC informed that Indian Potash Limited (IPL) would support the conclave as industry partner. It added that the conclave would focus on promoting sustainable economic growth in the Northeast region of India by bringing together various stakeholders from the government, private sector and academia along with progressive farmers to discuss and exchange ideas on how to achieve sustainable development in the region.
It mentioned that the government of India has committed to reaching its non-fossil energy capacity of 500 GW by 2030, meeting 50% of its energy requirements from renewable energy by 2030, reducing total projected carbon emissions by one billion tonnes by 2030, reducing the carbon intensity of its economy by less than 45% and achieving the target of Net Zero by 2070.
It stated that green growth is possible only through sustainable practices, resource efficiency and renewable energy sources. It added that green growth envisioned a future with environmentally sustainable and equitable economic growth, resource security, a healthy environment (air, water, and land), and restored ecosystems with rich ecology and biodiversity.
Keeping in view the significance of productivity and green growth, the conclave would be organised as productivity and green growth issues are highly relevant to the state of Nagaland.
It informed that the conclave would be chaired by Sh. Sundeep K Nayak, director general of National Productivity Council. Others who would speak during the conclave are Dr. BN Tripathi, DDG (Animal Science), ICAR, New Delhi; Dr. DN Thakur, national president of Sahakar Bharati; Dr. KM Bujarbaruah, former DDG (Animal Science) and former vice chancellor of AAU, Jorhat; Dr. S Venugopal, director of National Institute of Technology, Nagaland; and KD Bhardwaj, director of Environment and Climate Change, NPC.
Besides, Dr. TK Dutta, director of ICAR-CIRB, Hisar, Haryana; Dr. Girish Patil S., director of ICAR-NRC on Mithun; deans and professors from SASARD, Medziphema, Veterinary College in Jalukie, Patkai Christian College, SET Dimapur, would also participate in the event.
