DIMAPUR — A coordination meeting for the upcoming Hornbill Festival was held at the Chümoukedima deputy commissioner’s chamber on Tuesday, with a primary focus on the Dimapur-Kohima 4-lane, National Highway 29.

During the meeting held under the chairmanship of DC Abhinav Shivam, officials proposed the formation of a committee under District Disaster Management, comprising members from National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd (NHIDCL) and relevant contractors. This committee will aim to facilitate swift information dissemination during critical times, as per an update from the state DIPR.

With an emphasis on preemptive measures to address any potential incidents, the meeting also highlighted the importance of mapping areas requiring special attention, enabling the strategic placement of manpower.

Departments involved were directed to submit mitigation plans, while the Home Guards and Medical departments received directives to deploy machinery and ambulances strategically, ensuring the safety of visitors during the festivities.

Similarly, the NHIDCL was tasked with preparing a contingency plan to effectively manage any incidents that may arise, the DIPR update stated.
