Highway Area Sumi Sports Association sports meet kicked off
Dimapur, Oct. 31 (EMN): The 10th sports meet organised by the Highway Area Sumi Sports Association kicked off on Monday at Unity Village, Dimapur with I Kitto Zhimomi, Commissioner and Secretary, department of Tourism, and Managing Director, Nagaland Hotels Ltd, as the special guest.
Addressing the gathering, Zhimomi said there were two essential qualities that lead to a successful life — dedication and discipline, he said, according to an update.
“We either get more infrastructure first and produce the champions, or produce the champions in some form or the other and then engender the infrastructures”, he stated. He told not only to ponder about what the government can do for them, but also to be motivated and disciplined at every individual level and strive for their goal.
Further, he said that there were many upcoming Naga youths who have the potential to achieve the best, but unless more efforts are put in, they will not succeed, it read. He also stated that a neighbouring state like Manipur has generated several Olympians, Asian games winners, etc. and thereby the government is rendering more attention in the sports infrastructure.
Stressing on the rights and duties practiced by the forefathers, he said that it can be distinguished on two aspects, such as rule of nature and rule of law.
“Until we comprehend our duty as equally important as our rights, we will not be able to progress in life. The elders are supposed to love the youngsters, the youngsters are supposed to respect the elders, the rich are supposed to be considerate to the poor and the poor are supposed to be grateful to the rich; however, these old practices have slowly declined,” it stated.
He therefore urged the gathering to be mature so that everyone can live in a better society.
In the first men’s football match, Unity Village defeated Diphupar 1-0; while Chekiye A played against Chekiye B in the women’s volleyball match.
