Dimapur, Sep. 18 (EMN): Teachers and students of Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) in Chozuba under Phek district were administered the ‘Swachhta pledge’ and declared the school premises as single-use plastic (SUP) free.
The declaration to this effect was made during the observation of ‘Swachhata Pakhwada’ organised by the National Social Scheme unit of the school on September 14, stated an update from the school.
It stated that the school’s vice principal, Vesuzo Swuro, has highlighted on the menace of plastics in the community and the world at large and encouraged the students to discourage the use of plastic. He expressed believed that the community would witness a facelift through one’s conduct.
He further expressed confidence that every student and teacher would instill the habit to discard the use of plastics especially the single-use plastic.
It stated that postgraduate teacher (PGT), Shekuto Rhakho, administered the ‘Swachhta pledge’ to all the students and teachers on the occasion.
It was followed with a cleanliness drive and poster campaign within the town against use of plastic. Some of the poster campaign read ‘Do not burn plastics,’ ‘Save the future,’ ‘Stop plastics,’ ‘Stop plastic pollution,’ ‘3Rs – Reduce, Reuse, Recycle,’ ‘Keep our town safe,’ ‘Say no to plastics,’ ‘Stop burning plastics-save our mother earth’ etc.
It added that the students were later divided into two groups (girls and boys), where female and male teachers gave awareness on health and hygiene.
