Govt offices resume duty in Wokha

Wokha, Feb 21: Government establishments in Wokha town, which remained non-functional for about a month following social unrest, began normal duties today. However, some officers were found absent as they were reported out of station.
In this regard, the public of Wokha town have demanded to all government employees to resume their duty and release the salaries as soon as possible.
After the Lotha Hoho and Lotha Hoho Joint Action Committee unlocked the Treasury office yesterday, the office began functioning in full swing in order to release the salary of all departments.Official at Wokha Treasury office suggested all departments to depute only officer in-charge to come for withdrawal of salary as they found it difficult when those departments sent their peon or chokidar, who are not aware of accounts. He voiced that under such circumstances, salary disbursements often get delayed.
Wokha Treasury office informed that it is functioning duty without complaint and able to meet the people’s demand as per the convenience through head office in Kohima.
It was also reported that due to shortage of budget, employees of CMO office at Wokha are facing problem since October last. The office informed that the problem was not from Treasury department in Wokha, adding the employees need to wait sometimes for the government to release the budget.
