Governor, CM extend Mimkut greetings

Dimapur, Jan. 16 (EMN): Governor of Nagaland and Assam Prof. Jagdish Mukhi extended festive greetings to the Kuki community in Nagaland on the occasion of Mimkut Festival.

The governor stated that this festival was an expression of ‘exhilaration and triumph’ over the harvest of Mim (Maize), which is the last harvest crop of the season.

“During the celebration, Kuki community exhibits their magnificent traditions and customs, their ethnic culture are also expressed through art work that represents their roots. This festival is also a time to remember the loss of our loved ones.

“I urge everyone to celebrate this beautiful festival by observing the Covid- 19 SOPs.

On this auspicious occasion, May God bless you all with a healthy and a prosperous life,” the message conveyed.

Chief Minister of Nagaland Neiphiu Rio also extended Mimkut greeting s to the Kuki community on Sunday.

“I extend warm Mimkut greetings to the Kuki community. May the bond of love and brotherhood grow stronger. I wish you all a happy and a safe Mimkut and a fruitful year ahead. #StaySafe #Nagaland #LandOfFestivals,” the CM tweeted.
