GHS Namching celebrates golden jubilee

Dimapur, Nov. 9 (EMN): Government High School in Namching celebrated its golden jubilee on November 8 with the Advisor DUDA and NEPED, S Pangnyu Phom as the chief guest.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest urged upon the gathering to pay tribute to the pioneers who have ventured and devoted their lives to establish the school in order to bring education to the region. He encouraged the teachers and the faculty members to carry forward the good deeds sown by the founding members with rededication to uplift the institution and impart quality education to the children and produce good leaders. He also expected cent percent pass result in the coming HSLC examination.
Pangnyu said he was happy to grace two important remarkable occasions of the school as the chief guest during upgradation programme from GMS to GHS on November 30, 2010, and golden jubilee celebration of the school on November 8, 2017.
He announced that the proposal for construction of National Highways from Mokokchung district via Mongtikang, Namching, Pongo and Longphang to Mon and Tuensang districts has been approved by the cabinet. He said the highway would benefit not only the Phom people but also the Konyaks and the Changs. He further urged upon the people to maintain cordial relationship among the Phom community and other neighbouring tribes to promote good connectivity and development in the region.
SDO Civil, Longleng, D Robin, lauded the pioneers for their noble service of bringing education to the people at their door step. He said although the pioneer might not be highly educated but have the wisdom and knowledge to guide and lead in the right directions.
He urged the teachers and the school authority to transform the dreams and visions of the pioneer into reality through their hard work and dedication.
DEO Longleng, in his exhortation, appealed to the head master, school authority and the VEC to take full ownership of the school and play a vital role for the uplift of the school. He pointed out that government schools no longer belong to the government but to the respective community under the Village Education Committee (VEC). He added that the destiny of the school depends on the service provided by the VEC and the community along with the board of management.
Short speeches were delivered by the pioneers of the school namely K Apisungba- retired PA to DC; Shokleu- GB; N Namlei- former GB; and Angteng- Head GB. The invocation and welcome address were said by Y Atang, pastor of PBC, and Hadok Phom, chairman jubilee planning board, and the vote of thanks was proposed by the head master N Shauhong Phom.
The school was established in 1967 and upgraded to GMS on April 8, 1973, and finally upgraded to GHS on November 30, 2010.
