DIMAPUR — Alleging non-reimbursement of transportation bill for the past forty eight months, the Fair Price Shop (FPS) dealers in Mokokchung district have appealed to the concerned authority to fully pay/ reimburse the pending transportation bills without any deduction to enable them continue the service without any hindrance.

An update from the Mokokchung FPS dealers stated that they have been diligently disbursing the rice under the National Food Security Act (NFSA) and PMGKAY to the ration card holders without missing out a single month till date.

It mentioned that as per NFSA and PMGKAY schemes, the fair price shop dealers are to transport and dispense the rice to the beneficiaries, while the government would reimburse the transportation/ handling bill to the dealers on a quarterly basis.

It, however, claimed that the government has failed to reimburse the pending bill incurred during the past forty-eight months (transporting rice for 30 months from September 2021 – February 2024 under NFSA and 18 months under PMGKAY scheme).

The FPS dealers resented the indifferent attitude of the concerned department for failing to reimburse the pending bills except for verbal assurance despite meeting the department officials to discuss the matter on several occasions.

It pointed out that the dealers are arranging the transportation out of their own pocket adding that such delay in reimbursing the bills is causing untold hardships in ferrying the rice and distributing it to the beneficiaries.

In the light of the above stated circumstances, the FSP dealers of Mokokchung have demanded the concern authority to fully reimburse the pending transportation bills without any deduction to enable them continue the service without any hindrance.
