Dimapur, March 22 (EMN): In a shocking incident, a female staffer of the Realme mobile store located at Nyamo Lotha road in Dimapur, sustained serious injuries after being stabbed multiple times in the broad daylight on Friday.

Sources informed that the 22-year-old female staffer was alone in the store when a person entered the shop at around 11:30 am and stabbed her multiple times in the abdomen.

Eyewitnesses recounted that following the attack, the victim managed to come out of the store and sought assistance from a nearby establishment before being rushed to the OT (Operation Theatre) at Nikos Hospital.

Sources informed that she sustained at least five stab wounds in the right side of her abdomen.

A doctor from Nikos Hospital updated that the victim’s condition is stable. Police authorities have also confirmed that the victim is no longer in critical condition.

The police said that they had identified the accused who is reported to be operating a thrift store in New Market.

Further, the deputy commissioner of Police (Crime) and PRO, Dimapur, issued a press note stating that the police have received a written information from the victim’s brother about the ‘attempted murder of his younger sister’.

“The accused, identified as Abdul Majid, allegedly attacked the victim with a sharp knife during broad daylight. A case has been registered at the Women Police Station, Dimapur, under relevant provisions of the law, and investigations are ongoing,” the statement read.

Meanwhile, the Mech Kachari Public Organisation (MKPO), Nagaland, condemned the attack and urged the law enforcement officials to conduct a swift and thorough investigation to bring the perpetrator to justice.

It also clarified that the victim is not a Mech Kachari, as wrongly mentioned in various media reports.

The MKPO further stated that the attack is not only an assault but also a threat to the safety and well-being of the entire society.

Expressing solidarity with the victim, it called on all the communities to come together and demand justice, and to work towards preventing such incidents in the society.
