Faith FC wins 1st Open Penalty Shootout

Kohima, June 10 (EMN): Faith FC emerged as the champion of the 1st Open Penalty Shootout Tournament 2017 held here at Kohima College, Kohima ground on Saturday.
The tournament was organised by Angami Students’ Union Kohima College, Kohima (ASU KCK) with the theme “playing for peace, scoring for unity”.
Faith FC was awarded a cash prize of Rs. 10,000/- along with the running trophy and citation. Ziekiezou bagged the second position and pocketed Rs. 7000/-. The losing semi-finalist Zhadima and Dynamos were awarded Rs 3000/- each respectively along with the citations. Luto Shohe of Ziekiezuo was adjudged as the best goalkeeper and received a cash prize of Rs 2000/-. Altogether 40 teams participated in the tournament. During the closing ceremony, special guest Ketholelie Terhuja, assistant professor, department of education, Kohima College, Kohima spoke about the importance of sports in maintaining physical fitness and stressed that the students need to be encouraged in sports other than the academic studies and also to promote the young talents in such tournaments. He also said sports doesn’t teach character but reveals character.
Keneitsituo Kense, president of ASU KCK said that the tournament was organised in aid of the upcoming fresher’s meet and also keeping in mind to promote the youngsters through sports to give them a platform.
