‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign takes root at Akashvani Kohima
DIMAPUR — As part of “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam,” a campaign launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on World Environment Day this year, staff of the Akashvani station in Kohima took part in planting saplings on Thursday at the office premises in honour of their mothers.
Launching the campaign for Akashvani stations in the state from Akashvani Kohima, Deputy Director General (Engineering) and cluster head of Kohima, K K Rengma, planted a sapling at the office premises, according to a press release.
The deputy director general encouraged the staff on the occasion to plant one sapling each, either at the office or their respective residences.
Programme Executive Ella Kayina said Akashvani stations in the state will participate in the campaign until March 2025. She also informed that Nagaland has been given a target of 35 lakh tree plantations and shared the latest report from the state forest department, claiming that about 28 lakh trees have already been planted in the state.
Kayina said saplings were procured at a minimal rate from the Department of Environment, Forest and Climate Change. She added that the office has so far planted ornamental, flowering, and fruit-bearing trees.
A total of 24 saplings and ornamental plants were planted at the office premises.
Akashvani Kohima has scheduled specific days for the plantation drive for all employees posted at Dimapur, High Power Transmitter Zubza, the local radio station in Mokokchung, community radio stations in Mon and Tuensang, as well as in Phek, Wokha, and Zunheboto, including staff quarters.
