Education dept. develops system to verify employees

DIMAPUR — To verify and authenticate of all categories of employees, the School Education department informed that it is developing a ‘Teachers Attendance Monitoring System (TAMS) as part of the World Bank supported ‘Nagaland: Enhancing Classroom Teaching and Resources’ (NECTAR) project.

The purpose of TAMS is to provide all the schools, teachers, and school leaders in Nagaland with the necessary software and hardware tools in order to report daily employee attendance in a reliable and timely manner. For this purpose, TAMS would specifically employ the facial recognition technology for person identification along with location and time stamping.

The project director of NEP – The Lighthouse (NECTAR), Thavaseelan K, stated that TAMS is being initiated by the NECTAR project and driven by the department of School Education to guarantee optimum classroom teaching and transactions by ensuring the attendance and presences of teachers in their respective schools/ classrooms. He added that the attendance application is being introduced to also tackle the issue of proxy teachers and absenteeism. 

In this regard, he informed that a pilot exercise would be conducted for all 25 government schools under Viswema block in Kohima district at SDO (Civil) office in Jakhama from May 3 to the 6th to verify all the employees’ data and register authenticated employees via a robust process. He has requested all the teachers and employees to come with their original appointment order along with one photocopy, Aadhar card, one recent passport photo, the ID card issued by SAMAGRA and the latest transfer/posting order.

The exercise for Government High School, Jakhama; Government High School, Kezocha; Government High School, Khuzama; Government High School, Kigwema; and Government Primary School, Tekhuba New Reserve, would be conducted on May 3 from 9 am to 4 pm.

The same exercise for Government High School, Sakhabama; Government Middle School, Jakhama; Government Middle School, K Khel Viswema; Government Middle School, Kezo town; Government Middle School, Kezoma; Government Middle School, Kidima ‘A’; and Government Primary School, Zhodi Colony Jakhama, would be conducted on May 4.

On May 5, the exercise would be conducted for Government Middle School Kigwema ‘A’; Government Middle School, Mima; Government Middle School, Mitelephe; Government Middle School, Pfuchama; Government Middle School, Phesama; Government Primary School, Kezo Basa; Government Primary School, Khuzama ‘A’; and Government Primary School, Kidima ‘A.’

The exercise would conclude on May 6 with Government Primary School, Kidima ‘B’; Government Primary School, Kigwema ‘C’; Government Primary School, Kipfuzha Sector Kigwema; Government Primary School, R Khel Viswema; and John Government Higher Secondary School, Viswema. Education
