Drug pusher, gun pullers land in jail after police shove

Five persons are in police custody on Thursday, July 9, following their arrest by police enforcement and security forces on separate charges, namely drug-smuggling and possession of illegal weapons.
Adding to the crime beat for July, a drug dealer from Manipur has been arrested by Kohima police after at least 11, 000 capsules of a banned drug was found on him. Also, the 37th Assam Rifles have apprehended four persons after they were found armed with pistols.
Enforcement authorities of Kohima and the security force in Dimapur informed of the arrest in separate update son Thursday.
In the first case, authorities informed that personnel of Kohima police manning the inter-district Peducha check gate on July 9, searched a Manipur-bound vehicle (MN-01-0175) and found 11,600 capsules of the banned drug, Spasmo Proxyvon. The authorities estimated the drug to be worth approximately 1, 16, 000 in black market. The police found the drugs concealed inside flour bags, the authorities informed.The owner of the banned drugs was arrested following the discovery. The person has been identified as one Santa Singh, a 28-year old native of Kainao village in Manipur.
In a separate case, troopers of the 37th Assam Rifles have apprehended four persons during different occasions after guns were found on them during search operations.
The security force informed that on July 3, Assam Rifles personnel apprehended four arms peddlers in two separate operations carried out in Hong Kong Market of Dimapur and 7th Mile in Chumukedima. Two .22 pistols were recovered during the operations, the security force informed in updates to the media on Thursday.
During the operation in Hongkong Market, a person who the security force said was an “arm peddler” was apprehended. The person has been identified as one Rajesh Deb, 32 years, of Pangram village in Silchar district of Assam. The security force found he was armed with a .22 pistol, the security force said. He was apprehended from Hotel Mandira.
On the same day, in another operation that was undertaken in the areas of 7th Mile, a motorcycle with three riders was stopped along National Highway -29. On searching the individuals, the Assam Rifles found a .22 pistol from one of them.
The apprehended individuals have been identified as one Haisui Zeliang, 29, of Letkie village in Peren district, a Akuolie Metha, 31 years, of ‘Sophima’ in Diphupar of Dimapur district, and one Aneio Zumu, 25 years, of Botsa under Chiephoubozo in Kohima district.
The apprehended persons were handed over to East Police Station and Diphupar Police Station, in Dimapur, respectively, on July 3, the security force informed.
