Four drug dealers in police custody

Four persons–including two accused of attempting to drug train passengers using drugged fruit juice–are in the custody of Dimapur enforcement authorities on charges of peddling banned drugs. Two of the accused, from Assam, are said to have been carrying drugged ‘Maaza’, a packaged mango juice.
The Dimapur police authorities issued a press release on Friday informing about the arrest.
On July 16, the authorities said, the police received reports that drugs were being disposed off in a local market in Dimapur. Personnel of the Special Branch “conducted discreet enquiry and intercepted” a suspect who was later identified as one Adani from Grace Colony of Rail Bazaar in the city. Based on information obtained from the person, the police personnel seized suspected Brown Sugar weighting approximately 600 grams from the possession of a lady identified as one Taphro Punou. Punou is a 38 year old married woman of Marafii village under Tadubi circle in Manipur’s Senapati district, the police said.
In this connection, the said lady and Adani Mao, 65 years old, from Padunamai village of Senapati have been arrested. Mao was a resident of Signal Angami colony in Dimapur, the police said. Both the persons were arrested and complaints were lodged against them with East Police Station for further investigation, the press release informed.
In a another incident, on the July 6, a combined team of government railway police and RPF personnel of Dimapur have apprehended two persons after the personnel found on them banned drugs.
Mokshed Ali, 49 years, of Kamrup in Assam and Jahauddin Sheik, 33 years, of Kokrajar in Assam have been arrested after police found 234 tablets of banned drugs Lorazepam Ativan and two packets of Maaza juice that was injected with drugs. The drugged fruit juice and a syringe were to be used for drugging train passengers in a running train, police said. According to the authorities they were to loot passengers after drugging them.
Accordingly, a complaint has been registered against them with the Government Railway Police station for further investigation, the police informed.
