Dr Gaihaipou becomes first Commandant among Rongmei tribe

Imphal, July 2 (EMN): Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of Assam Rifles (East), Dr Gaihaipou Pamei was promoted to Commandant (CO, equivalent to Colonel in the Army) on July 1 at Assam Rifles IGAR (E) HQs, Silchar.
A badging cum promotion ceremony was held at IGAR (E) HQs, Silchar. He is the son of Rev MP A Kadi, former Pastor of Tamenglong Baptist Church.
A father of two children, Dr. Gaihaipou Pamei is the first army men among Rongmei community to be promoted to Commandant, except for one BSF official of Colonel Rank from Imphal.
Dr Gaihaipou was posted in Wokha and Zunheboto Nagaland and Chandel district, Manipur before posted to IGAR (E) Silchar last year.
