Dimapur, Dec. 14 (EMN):
The much anticipated Dimapur Night Carnival (DNC) season 9, jointly organised by Dimapur district administration, Dimapur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) and East Dimapur Bussiness Association (EDBA) and co-sponsored by Musik and Life Audio, got underway at Naga Shopping Arcade on December 14.

The five days night carnival could culminate on December 18.

The five-day night carnival began with a tribute to the victims of Oting incident by observing a minute of silence and songs to express solidarity with the affected families.

Speaking on the occasion, the deputy commissioner of Dimapur, Rajesh Soundararajan, acknowledged the organisers for providing opportunity and platform for young entrepreneurs to showcase their talents. He also encouraged the public to avail the facilities. Soundararajan also pointed that the carnival is a good opportunity for budding entrepreneurs to promote their business and culture during this festive season.

The DC reminded that the Covid-19 pandemic had affected all activities in the past one year and half part of this year. He, however, thanked the Almighty God for the improved scenario in order to organise such programme.

The invocation was proposed by the pastor of King Jesus Family Church, Rev. D. James Ngullie, while the welcome speech was delivered by DCCI vice president V Shikuto Sema.

The night carnival opening act in remembrance of Oting victims was performed by Neikuo Ang Khezhe.

More than 150 stalls including food stalls, ethnic cuisine, beverages, accessories etc., have been set up.
