District level workshop on IDCF held in Kiphire

Dimapur, June 9 (EMN): Intensified Diarrhoea Control Fortnight (IDCF) Workshop was held in Chief Medical Officer Conference Hall, Kiphire on June 9, with Dr. Rebecca, DPO Kiphire as the resource person.

CMO Kiphire, Dr. C. Tsenthungo Patton, in his welcome address highlighted the need to prevent common diseases like diarrhoea by creating awareness to the general public.

She informed that IDCF would be conducted from June 12 to June 24, for children under 0-5 years fall under the target of the beneficiaries. During the drive, the link workers at the village level would cater to the parents of children below 0-5 years and distribute ORS packet(s) and zinc tablets, demonstrate the preparation of ORS solution and carry out awareness. It will also focus on house to house visits by the link workers to ensure that no child is missed and simultaneously reffer cases to the nearest health centre and also collect reports of diarrhoeal death. Awareness activities would also be carried out in Anganwadi centres.

In view of the IDCF, every health unit under the district has been directed to set up a Zinc and ORS corner during this period. The objective of the workshop was to smoothly carry out the programme in the district.

The programme was attended by CMO, Kiphire, programme officers, medical officers, ASHA co-ordinators, programme managers, community mobilizers and IEC personnels.

Following the workshop, District Task Force meeting on account of IDCF, Mission Indradhanush and Weekly Iron Folic Supplement was also held in DC Office, Kiphire. The meeting was chaired by Sedevikho Khro (DC Kiphire). He requested the attendees that they aid the medical department in carrying out the programme to achieve the target.
