Dimapur Police observes ‘Police Commemoration Day’

Dimapur, Oct. 21 (EMN): Along with the rest of the country, Dimapur Police observed ‘Police Commemoration Day’ by organising a programme in the office of Commissioner of Police, Dimapur, on Thursday.
Speaking on the occasion, Dimapur Commissioner of Police, Rothihu Tetseo, informed that a total of 377 police personnel in the country have lost their lives while performing their duties during the last one year till date (2020-2021).
Tetseo added that a total of 14 police personnel from Nagaland have lost their lives due to Covid, out of whom four were from Dimapur district. They were ABSI S Adem Pongen of 12th NAP (IR) Bn, Havildar Rivitoli of 15th NAP (IR) MBN, Havildar Jabilong Zeliang of 1st NAP Bn, and THC Seidou Kuki of THC unit.
The commissioner of police also informed that out of the total 377 police personnel casualties in the country, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) recorded the highest deaths with 82, followed by Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) with 54 deaths and Border Security Force (BSF) with 47.
In regard to the state-wise Police department, Chhattisgarh reported the highest death toll with 32, followed by Jammu and Kashmir with 17 and Karnataka with 16 deaths.
The day was also marked by general salute, presentation of “Roll of Honour” to CP Dimapur, reading out of “Roll of Honour,” Laying of “Roll of Honour” on the Cenotaph, Shok Kar “Last post” followed by ‘Reveille.’ It was followed with ‘Samarak Ko Salami’ and laying of wreaths by the commissioner of police and other officers.
