Dimapur, Jan. 17 (EMN): Excise department, Dimapur confiscated 601 cases of assorted Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) and 300 cases of canned beer from two Manipur-bound trucks on January 14.
At around 8:30 pm, Excise duty intercepted a truck and on frisking the vehicle recovered 601 cases of assorted IMFL concealed under furniture and household goods. In this connection, one Gobin Meitei (35), resident of Leitanpokpi, Purum Likli, Imphal East, Manipur was arrested.
On the same night at around 11:50 pm, Excise duty manning Dillai Checkgate intercepted a truck and on frisking the vehicle, the party recovered 300 cases of Kingfisher can beer. In this connection, one Santosh Ghimire (32), resident of Maram, Senapati, Manipur was arrested.
As per preliminary investigation, the contraband IMFL was bound for Manipur, an update informed. The accused have been booked under the relevant sections of the NLTP Act 1989, it stated.
