Dimapur, Nov. 11 (EMN): The additional chief secretary and finance commissioner of Nagaland, Sentiyanger Imchen, on Wednesday informed through a notification that the ‘governor of Nagaland is pleased to notify’ that the existing rate of tax on diesel, petrol and other motor spirit has been amended with effect from November 11.
The rate of tax on diesel has been revised from the existing 14.5% to 17.50% or INR 11.08 per litre, whichever is higher. Further, the tax on petrol or other motor spirit has been revised from the existing 25% to 29.80% or INR 18.26 per litre, whichever is higher.
The rate of tax has been amended as prescribed under entry serial number 3 and 4 of Schedule II of the Nagaland (sale of petroleum and petroleum products including motor spirits and lubricants) Taxation Act, 1967, stated the notification.
