The members of Dimabang Halali Hosom (Society), Dimapur, on June 14 planted about 300 saplings at Darogajan, Bamunpukhuri-I & II village respectively. The Society has also planted tree saplings in the premises of Government Middle Schools, Temple, community hall etc.
The plantation programme was organised to observe the World Environment Day on June 5. However, due to shortage of quality saplings, the programme was postponed and observed on June 14.
Meanwhile, the Society has acknowledged the Range Officers, Department of Forest, Dimapur Division, for issuing the tree saplings which had enabled the Society to organize the programme successfully.
The plantation programme was participated by GBs, chairmen, women folk, students of the respective villages. The Society has further appealed to the respective village authority, school in-charges to take care and protect the planted saplings.
In a separate statement, Dimabang Halali Hosom (Society) has announced to inaugurate the Society office on June 15 in Darogajan village at 7 a.m. The Society secretary, Munohar Thaosen has requested all the members to attend the inaugural programme.
