Deploy specialist, surgeon to Mokokchung district hospital, requests Ao Students’ Conference
MOKOKCHUNG — The Ao Students’ Conference (AKM) has requested the department of Health and Family Welfare to immediately deploy a medical specialist and a surgeon to the Integrated Dr. Imkongliba Memorial District Hospital (IMDH) in Mokokchung.
In a letter addressed to the principal director of Health department, the AKM said that the absence of crucial medical professionals has left the district hospital in a dire situation, causing immense suffering to the local population.
It said the IMDH has been grappling with a severe shortage of medical staff since October 2022 due to the transfer of medical surgeon and specialist without replacements.
This staffing crisis has created a severe problem to patients in need of medical attention, forcing many to seek healthcare services elsewhere, thus incurring substantial financial and emotional burden, it stated.
The student body went on to say that the deployment of doctors to the IMDH is not only essential for alleviating the suffering faced by the local community but also crucial for ensuring timely and efficient medical intervention.
