DIMAPUR, FEBRUARY 19

Dimapur District Auto Drivers Union (DDADU) has lauded the Dimapur Police personnel for cracking the murder of auto driver, Gulyu alias Gulzan and arresting three hardcore criminals involved in the murder. Dimapur police should investigate more into the crimes committed by these three persons, as in the past many auto drivers were killed in the same way.
The Union feels that such criminals do not deserve any mercy and be awarded not less than capital punishment for committing murder just for stealing an auto rickshaw. At the same time, the Union has appeals to the concerned authority not to grant bail to the accused persons at any cost.
In the past three years, six auto drivers have been killed and their vehicles stolen by unidentified persons and no arrests were made so far. Mukesh Singh was killed on July 31, 2010, Vetesezu Veyie on September 10, 2010, Baijnath Sahani on January 3, 2011, Pradip Singh on Februry 14, 2011, Ashadul on September 27, 2013 and Gulzan on February 8, 2014, said the release issued by Hokaito Zhimomi, president DDADU.
The DDADU, while lauding the Police for identifying the culprits involved in the murder of Gulzan in a short span of time, have also appealed the general public not to buy second-hand auto rickshaws without proper verification.
“If anybody approaches to sell auto rickshaws and if they have any suspicion, they can inform the Union or police immediately,” the release further said.
Meanwhile, in a separate release, the Muslim Council Dimapur (MCD) has also lauded the effort of Diphupar Police personnel for arresting three culprits namely Hussain Ali, Feroz Ali and Rahul Ali for the murder of a Muslim auto driver on February 7 at Niuland.
A Rahman, working president of the Council in a release expressed concerned at the way the migrant Muslims are committing crimes in and around Dimapur.
“These people in no way have respect for their own community and are only involved in crimes thereby spoiling the image of the Muslim Community of Dimapur, Rahman said and further appealed the Muslim community to be more vigilant against such criminals and not to harbor them.
The Muslim Council Dimapur in the release also said that of late, the Dimapur Police under the leadership of SP VZ Angami, is doing a commendable job in solving many criminal cases within short periods thereby creating a sense of confidence among the citizens of Dimapur.
