CNSA affirms peaceful settlement of border issue

Expressing displeasure with regard to the indifferent attitude of the state government, the Central Nagaland Students’ Association (CNSA) has affirmed to bring about a permanent settlement in the border areas with its Assam counterpart without losing an inch of land. CNSA comprises Lotha Students’ Union (LSU), Ao Students’ Union (AKM) and Sumi Students’ Union (SKK).

This was conveyed by CNSA during its visit to Nagaland-Assam border at Tsurangkong area in Mokokchung district on July 27 to take stock of the current state border issue. CNSA team comprised of president and colleagues along with senior leaders from LSU, AKM and SKK.

It was learned that CNSA would submit a representation to the state government to take an immediate action as the issue is not only confined to the three tribes but a state issue.

Speaking at the meeting in Tsurangkong, CNSA president Himato Yeptho apprised that the association would submit a representation to the government to bring about a permanent peace within the border (Nagaland-Assam). He further urged the people residing in the border areas to refrain themselves from escalating the issue.

The meeting was attended by representatives from Tsurangkong Students’ Union (TSU), youth front of Tsurankong, Northern Sumi, and GBs.

The team also visited a camp set up by Assam police personnel at Tsurankong area inside Nagaland.

It was informed that the team would visit border areas in Wokha district on July 28.
