Kohima, Mar. 6 (EMN): Citizens of Chetheba in Phek district have been reeling under darkness due to sudden breakdown of power transformer in recent months. With no sign of any visible progress, Chetheba citizens have appealed the state government and the concerned department to restore power supply to the area.
Stating this in a press release, vice chairman of Chetheba town committee, Mezahu Medeo, said the damaged transformer 33KV was repaired four times in a span of 10 months. He lamented that damaged transformer was not replaced despite repeated appeals made to the concerned department. He added that the promise to replace the transformer was yet to see the light of the day.
Medeo claimed that the repaired transformer, which was bought on November 17, 2017, broke down again on February 26, 2018.
Stating that the maintenance expenses for the repair of the transformer was borne by well-wishers and the community, the vice chairman has urged the department to look into the matter and replace the transformer with a new one at the earliest.
Chetheba citizens have been experiencing the power outage since February 26. The most affected sections were the HSLC students who are preparing for their examinations.
