Chakpa and Yaongyimti villages linked closer by road
Dimapur, April 11 (EMN): Minister for Mechanical and Housing (PWD) Tongpang Ozukum inaugurated two inter-village link roads in Mokokchung district on April 10.
Ozukum said that the link roads, between Chakpa and Yaongyimti (New) village, should be labelled as ‘friendship road’ as it would strengthen the bond between the two villages, a press statement on Sunday informed.
It said that the minister also assured to provide further assistance for maintenance of the road.
Village Council chairman, Yaongyimti(New) Suponglemba, appreciated the minister for “fulfilling the dream of the two villages” by completing the construction of the link road, which the citizens of Yaongyimti(New) village in particular had planned for nearly 20 years, it said.
He also said that with the construction of the link road, it would take only ‘nine minutes’ to reach Chakpa village as opposed to taking half an hour before.
Imkonglemba, Village Council Chairman, Chakpa also expressed his gratitude to the minister for coming forward and personally overseeing the construction of the link road.
It said that Ozukum, who was on a week-long constituency tour, also inaugurated the reconstruction of a seven kilometre inter -village link road between Yaongyimti(Old) and Salulamang village.
It may be mentioned that the construction of this road has shortened the distance for the citizens of Phangsang to reach Chuchuyimlang EAC circle office.
“Besides, the reconstruction of the link road will be a boon for the villagers of Yaongyimti(Old) for travelling to their farms and paddy fields which are situated mostly on the banks of the river Dikhu,” it added.
