Chakhesang Youth Front holds meeting with former presidents

Kohima, Jan. 21 (EMN): The executives and advisors of the Chakhesang Youth Front (CYF) held a consultative meeting with former CYF presidents on January 19 at Hotel Urra, Kohima.

Vezhoduyi Nakro, CYF president, shared the objectives of a joint meeting of CYF and former presidents, an update from the youth organisation stated.

It informed that all former CYF presidents present expressed their appreciation and satisfaction over the joint meeting, which was the first of its kind in CYF history.

Taking the lead, former CYF president Kekhwengulo Lea shared the historical background leading to the formation of CYF with the motto “Youth for the nation” on July 20, 1995. He informed that the nomenclature and the motto adopted at that point of time suited the community’s welfare and vision best.

He also recounted the extremely difficult journey of CYF and how it survived with the support of Chakhesang community and its leaders. He further urged the new CYF team to serve the community with a sense of patriotism in close co-ordination with the parent body Chakhesang Public Organisation (CPO).

Neilo Khape, another former CYF president, informed the gathering on how CYF had played a critical role in formulating policies in safeguarding the interest of Chakhesang on all fronts, particularly protecting its leaders, promoting local entrepreneurs, job reservation, curbing anti-social elements etc.

Former CYF presidents, including Mosonyi Domeh, Zhopayi Nakro, Welete Kapfo and Lhuvesayi Lohe, spoke in one voice to uphold CPO and CYF’s standing resolutions and strive to maintain Chakhesang image in close co-ordination with elders and pioneers.

CYF advisors Dr. Zhokho Venuh, Vethihü Kezo and Colo Mero also shared suggestions at the meeting.

Mero felt that common welfare and the love of community should drive CYF to serve the society as a frontal apex body. He stated that, while it is important to protect and promote good old traditions, one should be open to new ideas and positive changes.

He rued that most organizations today spend most of its time and resources in solving old problems. He, therefore, urged the CYF members to focus more on productive ideas for progressive development of the society.

Meanwhile, CYF vice president Nyitso Therie expressed gratitude to the former presidents and advisors for attending the meeting and sharing their valuable advice and experiences. He expressed optimism that CYF would not go wrong if it stands by its principles.
