Centre approves 12 road stretches for state

Dimapur, March 14 (EMN): The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has given approval to constructing 12 stretches of roads in Nagaland as part of the Special Accelerated Road Development Programme in North East.
The roads are part of the Chakabama-Zunheboto road, the Merangkong-Tamlu -Mon road and the Pfutsero-Phek road, an update from the Press Information Bureau informed on Wednesday.
The 25 km Chakabama-Zunheboto road will be a two-lane hard-shoulder construction, by Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) mode. The project will cost about INR 339.57 crore. It will have five minor bridges, 148 culverts, and a major and minor junction each, it was informed.
Another 25 km stretch of the same road is to be constructed as a two-lane with hard shoulders, also by EPC mode at the cost of about INR 239.31 crore. It will have 129 culverts and seven minor junctions.
The other 25 km stretch of this road is to be constructed as a two-lane construction with hard shoulders by EPC mode at the cost of about INR 285.68 crore. It will have 143 culverts and a minor junction. A 20 km stretch of the same road is to be constructed as a two-lane with hard shoulders, also by EPC mode at the cost of about INR 315.03 crore. It will have a major bridge, 128 culverts, and one major and two minor junctions. 20.534 km stretch of this road is to be constructed as a two-lane with hard shoulders by EPC mode at the cost of about Rs 240.64 crore. It will have 101 culverts, and one major and 18 minor junctions.
Likewise, the 20 km stretch of the Merangkong-Tamlu-Mon road is to be constructed as a two-lane with hard shoulders by EPC mode. The project will cost about INR 215.12 crore. It will have 75 culverts, and two major and 10 minor junctions. The other 19 km stretch of the road is to be constructed as a two-lane with hard shoulders by EPC mode at the cost of about INR 272.88 crore.
It will have a major bridge, 128 culverts, and a major and minor junction each. Moreover, a 27.835 km stretch of this road is to be constructed as a two-lane with hard shoulders, also by EPC mode at the cost of about INR 323.98 crore. It will have two minor bridges, 141 culverts, and 20 minor junctions. A 20 km stretch of the same road is to be constructed as a two-lane with hard shoulders by EPC mode at the cost of about INR 215.79 crore. It will have three minor bridges and 88 culverts.
Further, the 22.558 km stretch of the Pfutsero-Phek road is to be constructed as a two-lane with hard shoulders, also by EPC mode. The project will cost about INR 282.98 crore. It will have 190 culverts, and a major and minor junction each. A 20 km stretch of the same road is to be constructed as a two-lane with hard shoulders, by EPC mode, at the cost of about INR 237.72 crore. It will have 117 culverts, and a major and five minor junctions. The other 20 km stretch of this road is to be constructed as a two-lane with hard shoulders by EPC mode at the cost of about INR 251.97 crore. It will have two minor bridges and 112 culverts.
The land for the projects is being provided by the state’s government, it was informed. The roads pass through landslide-prone areas and for which flexible pavements shall have to be used to construct the roads—stated to be easier to maintain and repair. The project shall have to be completed within three years and the construction agency is to be responsible for any defect for four years after construction.
