Central team discusses on schemes with lead bank

KOHIMA, JUNE 21: Member of Parliament and Chairman, Parliamentary Standing Committee on Rural Development, Dr. P. Venugopal along with his colleagues today held an interactive session with State Bank of India and State Department Officials at de Oriental Grand, Kohima.
The meeting discussed core issues relating to various Centrally Sponsored Schemes such as MGNREGA, PMGSY, PMKSY, IAY, NRLM, NRDWP, Swacch Bharat Mission, NSAP, Annapurna scheme and bank activities in the State. Constraints such as poor infrastructure, frequent landslides, lack of banking infrastructure, non release of State matching share and delayed release of Central share from State Government etc were also highlighted.
Power point presentation on the achievements, success stories and challenges faced while implementing projects were also highlighted by State Bank of India, Rural Development, Land Resources, PHED, PWD & R&B (PMGSY).
The interactive meeting was attended by officials from State Bank of India (SBI), State departments including Irrigation & Flood Control, Land Resources, Agriculture, Rural Development, Social Welfare, PWD (R&B), Land Revenue and Food & Civil Supplies.
Earlier, the team of MPs also undertook field visits Khonoma and Jotsoma village and interacted with village level functionaries and Self Help Groups (SHGs) engaged in different activities.
They also inspected MGNREGA road works and witnessed presentation on Watershed Development Programmes under the Department of Land Resources. Khonoma and Jotsoma Village Councils also submitted memorandums to the visiting committee on Rural Development.
The 21 member team of MPs from Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha who are on a three day tour to Nagaland will also visit War Cemetery, Kohima before departure to Dimapur on June 22.
