DIMAPUR — The Chümoukedima District Auto Drivers’ Union (CDADU) has condemned the ‘attempted murder’ of Kumghato, a resident of Seirüzha colony in Chümoukedima town, by Azarad Ali and Amir Hussain on the night of March 18 after hiring Kumghato’s auto-rickshaw.

In a condemnation note, the CDADU cautioned that such a dastardly act perpetrated on one of its members by anti-social elements will not be tolerated.

The union also lauded the Chümoukedima police for their swift and prompt action in apprehending the culprits and further demanded severe punishment for the perpetrators.

In a separate press release, the Chümoukedima Town Youth Organisation (CTYO) also condemned the March 18 incident.

The youth organisation said that it will not tolerate such acts of “savage aggression” on any of its peace-loving denizens. It also appealed to the law enforcement authorities to swiftly conduct their investigations, and deliver the strictest punishment against the offenders at the earliest.

The CTYO also pointed out that while Chümoukedima town, one of the fastest-growing townships in Nagaland, has witnessed rapid development and urbanisation in the recent past, it has also seen a drastic rise in its population, especially non-indigenous people and illegal immigrants.

“ILP is the prime tool to safeguard the interests and stability of the indigenous people. It can also keep the influx in check and aid in discouraging possible lawbreakers from entering our state altogether,” it said.

The CTYO reiterated its appeal to the concerned authority to implement ILP in the entire Chümoukedima district, in both letter and spirit.
