Catholic priests from various parts of Nagaland are seen during the Chrism Mass and Priesthood Day celebration in Kohima on April 7.

Kohima, April 8 (EMN): Over a hundred priests from across Nagaland celebrated the Chrism Mass and observed the Priesthood Day at St. Mary’s Cathedral Church in Kohima on April 7.

The Chrism Mass is a liturgy celebrated at the cathedral church of the diocese presided over by the bishop.

Speaking at the celebration, the bishop of Kohima, Rev. Dr. James Thoppil, lauded the priests for their commitment and dedication in taking forward the ministry of the church. He also thanked the faithful of the church for their support and encouragement in keeping the morale of the priests high.

At the Priesthood Day celebration, Fr. Keduolhou George, principal of St Joseph’s College, Jakhama said, “On this day, I am reminded of my priesthood and also to serve God. It is annual reminder for me — of my promise and my commitment.”

He also expressed that Priesthood Day is an occasion for them to meet and greet with priests from across the state including the ‘shepherd’ – the bishop.

A total of 130 priests from across the state gathered to celebrate the Priesthood Day. On the day, oils of catechumen, chrism and oil for the sick were given to the priests to carry it back to the parishes.
