The Kohima District Planning & Development Board has some good surprises in the form of awards for the board’s community development units, the ward adoption committees. However, their chances at landing an award or two will depend on their performance.
The monthly meeting of the Kohima District Planning and Development Board was conducted in the board’s conference hall in Kohima town on Wednesday, July 15.
Reviewing the minutes of the previous board meeting, the team leaders of the Ward Adoption Committee of the southern Angami-I and northern Angami-II areas gave brief reports about the activities carried out in the month of June 2015. Reminding the ward adoption committees to submit their reports before August 15, the team leaders of majority of the adoption committees requested extension of another month. The development board has decided to extend the time for submission and scheduled September 10 as the last date for the reports to be submitted. The reports are to be submitted in hard copies to the core committee.
The members of the ward adoption committees have been told to ‘write their observation on the matter which are beyond the committee’s capacity and submit it to the chairman for further necessary action’.
The establishment of the Additional Deputy Commissioner (planning) has also reminded the ward adoption committees that awards for performance for them is in pace. The awards are for two categories i.e. urban and rural areas. The wards will be judged according to their performance on the criteria of innovation, creativity, and ‘also the attendance of the committee members,’ a DIPR added.
The committees are directed to submit their expenditure reports and activity document for record.
The day’s agenda for the board also included introduction to the data bank by State Resource Centre for women. The Kohima Municipal Council and the Child Protection Officer have been entrusted to present reports of their activities in the next meeting of the development board.
