Cabinet clears 196 health workers’ posts

Nagaland Cabinet has approved the creation of 53 posts of specialist doctor for 11 district hospitals and 143 posts of staff nurse to be deployed in all the district hospitals, Neiba Kronu, the minister for Co-ordination, Land revenue and Parliamentary Affairs and state government spokesperson of Covid-19, informed on Friday.

The minister, during a press briefing in Kohima, informed that in order to strengthen the manpower of the department of Health and Family Welfare, the Cabinet in its meeting held on June 11, has approved the creation of one post of director (medical education and radiation safety) at the level of special selection grade (pay level-18), five posts of zonal leprosy officer (Longleng, Kiphire, Peren, Phek and Zunheboto) at the level of the senior grade (pay level-15), and encadrement of two posts of district vector borne officer (Tuensang and Zunheboto) into the cadre of Nagaland health services, as and when the present incumbents vacate, to be manned by medical doctors.

The Cabinet has also approved age condonation of 28 staff nurse under Health and Family Welfare department and fresh appointment to be made against the sanctioned post, regularisation of 19 ‘serving contract’ medical officers, regularisation of 27 ‘existing medical officers’ who have been engaged by the department for a period of one year, Kronu informed.

He said that the Cabinet has directed this approval to be a one-time relaxation of laid rules and procedures of recruitments, regularisation and condonation of age. “Further, this one-time measure in view of prevailing situation in the backdrop of Covid-19 pandemic shall not be treated as a precedent,” he stated.

Kerala train to arrive today

Kronu informed that a special train from Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala that departed with 966 persons on June 9, would be reaching Dimapur on Saturday, June 13 at 5.30 am. He said that train is carrying stranded people of Nagaland from the states of Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

Another special train from Delhi with about 1000 persons will be leaving Delhi on June 14 at 6 pm and will reach Dimapur on June 16, he said.

Traffic advisory for Dimapur

In view of the Shramik special train from Kerala scheduled to arrive on June 13, the Dimapur police has announced a traffic advisory for the day.

There will be restriction on vehicular traffic one hour prior and four hours post arrival of the train along the designated route from Dimapur railway station to Agri Expo site in 4th Mile via traffic control, Zone I –Hotel Theja Fort-Burma Camp junction-Veterinary junction-Old Dhansiri Bridge-Purana Bazaar junction-TK Service to Agri expo site.

“However, in case of early/late arrival of the special train, the vehicular traffic restriction shall be enforced accordingly: one hour prior and four hours post arrival,” it added.
