Bharti Airtel announces digital learning tools for children
Dimapur, June 18 (EMN): India’s largest integrated telecom company, Bharti Airtel (Airtel), on Wednesday announced a strategic stake in Edtech start-up Lattu Media Pvt. Ltd. (Lattu Kids) as part of the Airtel Start-up Accelerator Programme.
The investment will enable Airtel to add Edtech to its premium digital content portfolio and give distribution scale to quality learning material from Lattu Kids, a press release issued by the Bharti Airtel stated on Wednesday.
The Mumbai-based Lattu Kids specialises in digital learning tools for children. The Lattu Kids app focuses on improving English vocabulary, reading and mathematics skills for children under the age of 10 years through entertaining, fun learning animated videos and games.
Stating that India has the second largest number of internet users in the world, the press release said the Covid-19 pandemic and the closure of schools have further accelerated the adoption of virtual classrooms and digitally-enabled learning.
The chief product officer of Bharti Airtel, Adarsh Nair, said that online education was a significant need for millions of young children, who do not have access to regular classrooms. Likewise, Nair said that the company aspires to support the growth of the start-up ecosystem through its digital platforms.
At the same time, he expressed confidence that Lattu Kids would create a positive impact in the space of online education. He added that the company was excited to have Lattu Media Pvt. Ltd. as partners in their growth.
Co-founder and CEO of Lattu Kids, Vivek Bhutyani, said the vision with Lattu Kids was to impact learning outcomes for young children in Nursery to Grade II, and lead this category in India by using digital content, gamification and technology.
Acknowledging the Bharti Airtel, Bhutyani said that Lattu Kids had found an equally passionate partner. He strongly affirmed that the synergy of the two companies would allow them to scale Lattu Kids to millions of kids in India.
