Dimapur, April 8 (EMN): 24 social organizations have called for a 36-hour bandh in Karbi Anglong, Assam, on April 10 from 5:00 am till April 11 5:00 pm. The announcement was declared during a joint press conference on Saturday evening at the Diphu PWD IB.
“The bandh called due to non fullfil their demand for correct the voters list as per Sixth Schedule. The organizations has time and again demand Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council for correction but failed the initiative,” a press release from the organisers stated on Saturday.
“They demand to correct the electorial roll as per Para 2(7) of the Sixth Schedule.”
Jones Ingti Kathar, adviser to the Sixth Schedule Implementation Committee (SSIC); Semson Teron, the president of SSIC; Piterson Rongphar, spokesperson for the People For People; Rajesh Tisso, president of the Karbi Farmers Association; Phenpiga Rengma, the president of the Rengma Naga Students’ Union; Dhonsing Ronghang, the president of the Karbi Anglong Rong Asar Amai, were among leaders of organizations who attended the meeting, the press release informed.
