Assessment camp, special e-roll drive for PwDs

Dimapur, Oct. 23 (EMN): Deputy Commissioner & Chairman DDRC Dimapur Kesonyu Yhome has informed that there will be assessment camp for the Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) by ALIMCO, Kanpur in collaboration with DDRC, Dimapur from Nov. 1 to 3 in Dimapur.
The camp will conducted for those residing in Dimapur town colonies till Dhansiri Bridge on Nov. 1 at DDRC, District Hospital, Dimapur; Purana Bazaar till Diphupar on Nov. 2 at Zion Hospital; and Sovima till Chumukedima on Nov. 3 at Chumukedima Town Committee Hall. The time has been scheduled from 9 a.m.
All PwDs will be examined and assessed regarding their nature of disability and the type of aids and appliances like crutches, wheel chairs etc.
Those persons with visual disabilities- only total blind (100 % blindness) patients, amputees (those without limbs)- only those without lower limbs can attend the camp, and other locomotors (physically handicaped), hearing and speech disabilities and mental retardation- all categories with disability 40% and above can attend the camp.
Selected PwDs will be provided the aids and appliances during December to January 2018 free of cost,
PwDs attending the assessment camp have been asked to bring a photocopy of disability certificate, original copy of income certificate (below Rs.15,000/- per month), photocopy of residential/ID proof- adhaar/voter ID/ration card/any govt. ID card, and passport size (4×5) photo (full body showing disabilities).

Special drive: As directed by the Election Commission of India, Oct. 25 has been specially designated, to make special focus on registering and identifying Person with Disabilities (PwDs) voters in electoral roll.
In this connection all BLOs shall visit house to house in their respective area to facilitate registration, and also identify the voters already included in the electoral roll to record the type of disability like visual impairment, speech and hearing disability, locomotors disability and others in plain paper polling station-wise on the specified day. Such list shall be maintained in the database for facilitation of the aforementioned voters in the following ways:
They shall be given preference in obtaining facilities at polling station, voter assistance centers, offices of DEOs/EROs and ROs etc., on any election related issues without waiting in queue.
It has informed that they shall be provided priority voting along with pregnant women voters/lactating mothers on the day of poll. Basic information regarding election process like voter guide, voter slip and voter identity card, braille and sign language shall be prepared for visual and hearing impaired voters. Data of PwDs shall not figure in electoral roll or in any website of the Election department for privacy.
All stakeholders including the disabled person organizations and partnering NGOs, BLOs, and district election machineries have been instructed to give their best services for the success of the special drive.
