DIMAPUR — In an effort to promote a drug-free society, the Assam Rifles (AR) participated in a 10 km run organised by Minitoe Foundation, in collaboration with the Peren district administration, in Jalukie town.
A defence release stated that the run on the theme “Say no to drugs” was aimed at raising awareness about the adverse effects of substance abuse and to encourage a healthier lifestyle. It added that the run witnessed enthusiastic participation of ten dedicated individuals from the Assam Rifles.
It stated that the 10 km run not only tested the participants’ physical endurance but also highlighted the military’s commitment to social causes and community engagement.
In another programme, Assam Rifles organised ‘a day with company commander’ in Pumao village in Longding district on January 13.
It stated that the fun packed, informative and motivational programme was attended by a total of 64 students, eight teachers and 24 parents. The activities included conduct of recreational games like musical chairs, tug of war, cultural programme promoting Wancho traditions and tree plantation.
A movie on the theme ‘Unity in diversity’ was also screened.
Meanwhile, Assam Rifles also organised National Integration Tour (NIT) for 45 individuals including students, guardians and teachers of Tirap district to Jorhat, Kaziranga and Itanagar from January 9 to the 24th.
The tour provided a platform for the attendees to visit air force station, Kaziranga National Park, dog training centre and local markets. The students also had the opportunity to meet Lt. Gen. KT Parnaik in Itanagar.
