Dimapur, Sep. 21 (EMN): Basing on specific information regarding presence of an NSCN (K) cadre, 32 Assam Rifles alongwith police representatives launched an operation at Super Market, Dimapur on Sep. 19.
According to 32 Assam Rifles, during the search, the team apprehended one cadre identified as ‘SS Sergeant Major’ of NSCN (K), Phukito Muru of Ghokhuvi village under Zunheboto district, currently residing at Chekiye village, 3rd Mile, Dimapur.
Seven blank extortion letters, one written extortion note and one Maruti Alto (bearing No AS02B-4563) were recovered from the possession of the cadre.
The apprehended cadre along with recovered items were handed over to East Police Station, Dimapur for further investigation.
Meanwhile, the 36 Assam Rifles along with police representatives launched an operation in general area East Police Colony near New Police Church, Dimapur on Sep. 20, basing on information regarding the presence of arm peddler.
According to 36 AR, during the operation, the team recovered one 9 mm carbine with magazine, one pistol magazine, 37 live rounds of assorted ammunition, three extortion letter pads of Federal Government of Nagaland (FGN), two extortion slips of FGN and other incriminating documents from the house of Late ‘SS Lieut. Col.’ Nitovi Sumi of FGN group.
The recovered arms, ammunition and other seized items were handed over to East Police Station, Dimapur for further investigation.
