The Duncan Bosti Council has accused the 37 Assam Rifles of carrying out ‘search operation’ at the private residence of the council Joint Secretary at 4:2S am on Thursday and “compelled” the Joint Secretary of the Council to sign a ready-made bond paper brought by the 37 AR which read ‘No claim/objection certificate (NC/OC) by house owner/local bodies’. The Duncan Bosti Council further alleged that the NC/OC read as “the Security Forces searched the house and the occupants but no harassment to anybody or damage to property was caused during the entire operation. No one has any complaint against the Security Forces conducting the operation”.
“In this regard the Duncan Bosti Council according to its constitution, Article III Vehemently condemns the unwarranted and inhuman operation carried out by the 37 AR in the wee hours,” the press release added.
The Duncan Bosti Council then said opposed, rejected, condemned and did not accept such raids, operation, deeds and such gross human rights violation by 37 AR.
“Therefore, the operation of 37 AR under the garb of AFSPA/DAA is nothing but to terrorized and instill fear psychosis to the Council Joint Secretary and his family,” the press note said while adding, “If such inhuman unwarranted operation doesn’t cause damage to property or persons, it certainly causes immense damage to mind and conscience of innocent children’s/wife and reputation and character assassination of a humble, active and sincere social worker who is the Joint Secretary of the Council”.
According to the Council, the raid was conducted on “innocent” family members in the absence of lady police personnel which is mandatory by law. “The 37 AR didn’t produce search warrant but raided on mere suspicion of whimsical and fanciful information which is totally illegal and unauthorized,” it added.
The Duncan Bosti Council then appealed to the higher authority of Assam Rifles, NGOs and right thinking citizens to condemn such acts violating fundamental human rights, saying that repetition of such “ugly episode cannot be accepted and tolerated any longer in future in any civilized society as no one is above the law”.
