Ambulance service under JSSK launched

Dial-up Ambulance Service for mothers and infants under the Centrally-sponsored Janani Shishu Suraksha Karyakram (JSSK) was launched today in the state.Organised by the State Health Society, the launching function was held at Lamlong Bazar, near UCO Bank. The ambulance service is brought to the public in the PPP Model with Heirang Infos. The event was attended by Khurai MLA Dr Ng Bijoy Singh; Dr Okram Ibomcha, Director of State Health Society; Dr Kangujam Rajo Singh, Director of Family Welfare Services and Dr Karam Lokendro, Director AYUSH.
The speed –up dial number for this service is 102.
Health Director Dr Ibomcha said that the ambulance will facilitate all the nursing mothers and their infants within the age of one. The ambulance vehicle will have basic delivery amenities and will have an ANM nurse and ASHA workers too. He added that this initiative under the JSSK has been taken up to reduce the rate of infant mortality in India, as the country is having one of the biggest numbers of infant mortality in the world. 40 such ambulance vehicles have already started functioning in the state since the last three-four months and 12 new vehicles will start functioning soon, added Dr Ibomcha.
